When Anastasia Beverly Hills collaborates, they collaborate excellently. I think when they collab they bring out some of the best products on the market. Think about the MakeupbyMario Palette and the Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit. ABH has yet again collaborated with no other than Amrezy.
Personally, I have to admit that I don’t really follow Amrezy that much. I have heard of her and I do know what she looks like but that’s about it (she’s stunning though waw). So, at first, I wasn’t really sure whether or not to buy this bad boy. It also looked way too dark for my complexion so that just put me off buying this. However, everything changed when I saw KathleenLights and Jkissamakeup’s video about this collaboration. They have a somewhat similar skin tone as I do and it didn’t look too dark on them. Needless to say that this pretty item arrived at my doorstep a few days later!
The highlighter comes in a matte black box with information on the back. The information contains the ingredients, the number of grams (9 grams), it is cruelty-free and where everything was made. The actual highlighter is, evidently, inside the box. The packaging is really stunning. It’s a shiny black compact with rose gold details such as the stars and the bottom of the compact. You also have the logo and Amrezy’s name embossed on the compact in a rose gold font. When you open the highlighter, you get a mirror inside which is always a nice touch! The actual highlighter itself is gorgeous. It’s printed in a way that it looks like liquified gold in waves, so stunning! But it looks even more stunning when it hits the light, scroll further if you dare.
The formula feels incredibly smooth. I wouldn’t say it feels like a cream, but it definitely is so extremely finely milled that it feels like one. There’s no fallout or kick up when putting your brush into this highlighter and it blends really effortlessly. I feel like the Amrezy highlighter treads the line of having a glossy and metallic finish at the same time. On me (when I build it up a bit) you will be able to see a slight gold streak, however, I do believe that if you’re slightly darker in complexion that this will look invisible on the skin!
This highlighter does not contain any chunky, visible glitter but it does have some microfine glitter particles which will reflect the light. These microfine glitters are only visible in really harsh lightning such as direct sunlight. As for pigment, this can either be a very subtle and an everyday highlight or you can make it really pigmented when building it up and I feel like the longer you wear it, the better it becomes and the more glossy looking it is. It will never become a very noticeable streak of metallic pigment on your skin or very noticeable texture, au contraire, it will look wet and very natural whilst still maintaining a beam from within type of look.
The Amrezy highlight has a white gold colour with champagne undertones. The special thing about this highlighter is that it doesn’t really has a strong base pigment and this makes this highlighter very versatile for numerous of skin tones. I have seen people whom are on the pale side of the spectrum (such as myself) wearing this and I have also seen people on the deeper side of the colour spectrum wearing and looking amazing. So, I do think that this caters multiple skin colours.
I really like this highlighter and how glossy looking it is while also being on the verge of metallic. It really beams up almost any makeup look and is a very neutral colour for multiple looks. I also like the fact that a variety of people can get away with wearing this colour and that it looks good on almost every skin tone! I think it’s still a hint to dark for me to wear right now, but it will look amazing during summer!
The Anastasia Beverly Hills x Amrezy collab is available on anastasiabeverlyhills.co.uk and will soon be available on Cult Beauty and Beauty Bay. It retails for £29.
