Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer (Light) and Butter Blush in Natural Glow

Hello loves,
I am writing this review while listening to Amy Winehouse. Just giving you that piece of information. Let’s get started with this review of my favourite bronzer and a lovely blush!

I think everybody kind of knows this bronzer. It has been hyped up for so many years now and is still a favourite for a lot of people and not only because of the scent! So I thought it was time to finally buy this tropical looking sunshine.

First of all, I really adore the packaging. I love the colours and the little palm leaves on it. It has two compartments. The first being the bronzer itself and the second one has a mirror and a tiny sponge applicator (this is the same with the blush, below). I don’t really use the applicator as it doesn’t seem good for blending but still very kind to give it to us.
The bronzer is designed in waves. I adore this pattern. It feels relaxing and reminds me of the waves at sea. The bronzer looks like it has been molten and then set. So beautiful.

Let us talk of Murumuru. I had no idea what it was. So I did some research and it seems like it helps to soften the texture of your skin and also helps to keep your natural oils in the skin. They won’t be absorbed. The formula of the Butter Bronzer is exactly that. Feels like butter. It almost feels like a cream product but it’s not. It’s really soft, smooth and silky but does not have any fallout. None at all! The blend of this product is amazing. It seems like it blends itself, it’s so easy!

Pigmentation is there but is not full on. It is not very opaque when swatching but I don’t mind this since I like a subtle bronzer that I can build up to what I want. It’s not too pigmented if that makes sense, haha. Colour wise, this bronzer has just the right amount of orange in it while still looking quite neutral and has the slightest bit of grey in it. Not much but just the right amount to give a good balance. Also, this smells amazing. It smells like a mixture coconut and pineapple with a bit of sunscreen. So tropical and an instant ‘make me smile’ feeling. My only concern is that I bought the Light version and the original version does not seem to suit people with a dark complexion. So, Physicians Formula make a deep version, please!

bronzerI hope you can see the subtle difference between before and after. I don’t like to apply too much bronzer because I fear an oempaloempa effect, haha. The bronzer gives a subtle shading effect and gives my face shape and warmth.

The blush has the same packaging as the bronzer, just in a pink colour. However, it is smaller than the bronzer. The bronzer contains 11 grams and the blush 7.5 grams. They have a different weight and price! The formula of the Butter Blush is exactly the same as the bronzer. Soft, silky and smooth. However, the Butter Blush in Natural Glow is far more shimmery than the bronzer and from what I have read, also from the other blushes in the line. It’s more like a highlighter with a bit of colour instead of a blush. It still works as a blush though.

Natural Glow is a light, golden peach with a pearly sheen. I really love this colour. It’s so flattering on my skin tone and does work for me as a blush. For people with a deeper complexion than myself, this will be a lovely highlighter. It has a light to medium coverage and is definitely buildable. I swear that you have to do quite a lot for this to look too powdery. It’s so finely milled. Evidently, the blush has the same amazing scent as the bronzer. I swear this scent makes the bronzer and blush even more amazing.

blushAgain, I hope you can see the pink hue on my cheeks. The blush is really hard to see since it diffused so beautifully. It’s extremely natural on my skin tone, so I doubt it will be visible on any complexion that it deeper than mine.

In conclusion, I am in love with both of these products. The Butter Bronzer gives me the exact amount of bronze on my face and is beautifully blended every time and the Butter Blush gives me that ‘flushed cheeks’ feeling. Both look extremely natural on the skin and flatter my skin tone. I really like these!
I bought my Butter Blush and Butter Bronzer here on Boozyshop.com
Lots of love and see you next time!

  1. These look super pretty. I’m a fan of intense bronzed effect so for me this may not work really. Still I like the fact that you can build it up, that is really important for blushes and bronzers. xx

    1. You can definitely build these up! I applied a very light layer because of my light complexion. A little bit too much of bronzer can make me look like a clown haha. You might want to try the original version instead of the Light one that I have for that intense bronzed effect! Xx

  2. I’ve wanted to try the Butter Bronzer for ages but it is so hard to get hold of in the UK! I am on the hunt for the perfect bronzer for my fair skin. After reading this post I really want to hunt it down and give it a try!
